Although the historical expansion of dengue fever is well documented‚ the potentially large burden of ill-health attributable to dengue across much of the tropical and subtropical world remains poorly enumerated. This study undertakes an exhaustive assembly of known records of dengue occurrence worldwide‚ and uses a formal modelling framework to map the global distribution of dengue risk to provide a starting point for a wider discussion about the global impact of this disease.
