Antiviral protection and the importance of Wolbachia density and tissue tropism in Drosophila simulans | World Mosquito Program Skip to main content

Wolbachia density and distribution in host tissues has been suggested to be an important factor for mediating antiviral protection in both mosquitoes and flies. This study demonstrated that antiviral protection was correlated with wAu Wolbachia density. These findings may facilitate the development of Wolbachia biological control strategies and help to predict host-Wolbachia pairings that may interfere with virus-induced pathology.
